Protein involved in the synthesis of taxol, a complex diterpenoid isolated from the bark of yew (Taxus) species. Taxol is a potent antimitotic agent with activity against a number of leukamias and solid tumors. It has become a chemotherapeutic drug under the generic name of paclitaxel.
